March 13, 2002 - Vancouver, British Columbia - The Fairmont Waterfront has gone to the dogs....again. For a second time the hotel has included on its payroll a handsome, playful and four-legged employee to act as hotel Ambassador.Morgan, the black Labrador retriever started his job just weeks ago and is already settling in to his new responsibilities. His primary duties include greeting guests outside the hotel lobby and acting as man's best friend, accompanying hotel guests on strolls throughout the city. These duties may sound simple to some, but Morgan has big paws to fill. His predecessor, Teagan, a Wheaton terrier was introduced in April 2001 as a companion for hotel guests. Although a wonderful addition to the hotel, Teagan's first employee performance review described him as too shy for this very sociable, high profile position. His dog days are now spent with one of the hotel employees. The hotel remained committed to its pet project and the search began to find the perfect K-9 replacement. The British Columbia Guide Dog Services, an organization that trains seeing-eye dogs, recommended one of their overly playful puppies that didn't quite make their final cut, but was more than qualified for the position at the hotel.Morgan arrived at the hotel the end of January and has been progressively introduced to all of his responsibilities. He works some doggone good shifts; 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., complete with morning and afternoon cat-naps, and he gets weekends off. Definitely a dog's life. Guests of the hotel who want to walk or play with Morgan simply phone the hotel operator to book a convenient time. Morgan's services are complimentary and the only price you might have to pay is a stoop and scoop during a walk - a puppy pack, complete with water, treats and plastic bag is provided by the hotel.Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is the largest operator of luxury hotels and resorts in North America, with a unique collection of world-class resorts and city center hotels that enjoy unrivalled prominence in the communities where they are located.
