2.8 Safety Messages
2.8.1 Consumers must be informed of all reasonably foreseeable events that may lead
to product damage or personal injury if the instructions are not followed
properly or if there is a reasonably foreseeable risk that may occur during
product use or misuse.
2.8.2 Product warnings shall contain the following elements:
2.8.2.1 A signal word (Danger, Warning, or Caution) that identifies the
message as safety related and provides an indication of the relative
degree of risk associated with the hazard. Signal words shall be used
as defined in ANSI Z535.4.
2.8.2.2 A clear statement defining the nature of the potential hazard.
2.8.2.3 A statement describing the potential consequence if the hazard is
encountered.
2.8.2.4 A statement explaining how to avoid or prevent the hazard from
occurring.
