It is the only ball game that takes place in a pool at the Olympics. Water polo teams consist of seven players-a-side,competing in a two-metre deep pool,and the athletes are not allowed to touch the bottom of thepool. The goal of the game is similar to football, with the side that scores more goals into the opponent's goal to win. It is a foul to hold the ball with both hands except the goalkeeper.
