The Greek noun lu,ph (憂愁) is frequently used in John chapter 16 (4 times – 16:6, 20, 21, 22). On the evening just before Jesus was arrested, Jesus had left many instructions to his disciples. Those precious teachings of that final evening are recorded in John chapters 13-17. The disciples had already heard several times about Jesus’ imminent arrest, suffering and resurrection.
