As each node of the WSN is battery powered, minimizing the energy consumption is the main objective for WSN designer. The amount of traffic sent over a link at a given time affects the energy consumption. The formulation of the energy model is similar to that in [13]. The energy consumption function is modeled so that the consumed energy is proportional to the amount of data transmitted over the link. A summary of the energy model is given as follows
