Our sun-exposed pigs had an average total vitamin D content of 39.9 IU/100g. The USDA nutrient database currently does not include the 25 (OH)D3 content of meat products. Considering that 25(OH)D3 is present in natural animalbased products, and has five times the biological activity of vitamin D3, 25(OH)D3 should be measured and accounted for in future vitamin D analysis.
