Further, we tested the discriminant validity by examining whether a latent variable better explains the variance of its own indicators than the variance of other latent variables. To validate this, we compared the square root of AVE for each construct with its cross-correlation with other constructs. The results supported the discriminant validity of our constructs in that in all cases, the diagonal elements in the matrix (i.e., the square root of AVE) were higher than the off-diagonal elements in the corresponding rows and columns, as shown in Table 2.
