Full expertise in projects, quality and lead times.
Against the backdrop of an especially competitive environment, expertise in managing complex projects across global platforms is key to Faurecia's development. Faurecia's engineering efficiency is renowned among automakers and draws strength from the program management system (PMS). Just-in-time manufacturing and precision mass production are other assets of this leading global supplier.
PMS: end-to-end automotive project management
Faurecia uses a rigorous series of methods when managing projects in the development phase, known as the Program Management System (PMS), in keeping with the Faurecia Excellence System (FES). Each of the group's business lines adopts a painstaking methodical and disciplined approach. Performance is measured using appropriate indicators common to all development teams. A joint development approach with manufacturers is often used to manage projects.
Since 2007, the effects of the PMS system have been reinforced by the Excellence Management Program (EMP). This program establishes the guidelines for complying with milestones, deliverables and lead times, managing suppliers, ensuring that launches have been thoroughly prepared, and guaranteeing strict compliance with quality, cost and time constraints.
Just-in-time expertise
Located exactly where manufacturers need them, Faurecia's 270 production plants include car components production sites and just-in-time sites. Half of its plants belong to the latter category. Sites are located less than 30 kilometers, or 19 miles, from manufacturers' production plants or even actually located on site. Faurecia's plants deliver pre-tested car modules in the right order in less than two hours. Our just-in-time process can be extended to even greater distances. The new "long-distance just-in-time" plant in Walbrzych (Poland) delivers Ford S-Max seats to a plant some 950 kilometers, 590 miles, away in Belgium. Faurecia and its customer benefit from competitive production costs, since seat components are produced in Poland or the Czech Republic.
Precision expertise
Thanks to its technical expertise and quality-driven approach, Faurecia can provide mass production to extreme levels of precision. One such example is its global seat mechanisms center in Caligny (Normandy), where Faurecia designs and manufactures parts that are key to motorists' safety and comfort. Parts are produced in millions with micron precision.
