These two rates are significantly correlated (Pearson’s correlation ¼ 0.49; p value ¼ 0.02) and this correlation remains significant after correction for chromosome length and centromeric type (Pearson’s correlation ¼ 0.73; p value ¼ 0.006), suggesting that meiotic nondisjunction occurs more frequently on some chromosomes (such as 15, 16, 21, and 22) than others, resulting in more instances of both UPD and aneuploidy on these chromosomes.
