The generalizability of our finding

The generalizability of our findings is limited by the fact that a single industry was employed in the analysis. Cross-industry studies are needed to validate the patterns and propositions identified in this study. In addition, there is a need to test the propositions on a broader empirical level. Measurement instruments for a number of environmental strategies in operations has begun (Klassen and Whybark, 1995), but further work is needed in this area.
