Our results suggest that divorce effects can be quite persistent, consistent with findings from two other longitudinal studies of children’s adjustment trajectories (Cherlin et al., 1998, VanderValk, Spruijt, de Goede, Maas, & Meeus, 2005). Associations were small in size, but were in line with results of meta-analyses reported in the literature (Amato, 2001; Amato & Keith, 1991). Effects were evident both at home as reported by mothers and at school as reported by teachers, suggesting that the observed differences were not the result of setting or informant bias.
