1999 outbreak, Nipah virus caused a relatively mild disease in pigs, but nearly 300 human cases with over 100 deaths were reported. In order to stop the outbreak, more than a million pigs were euthanized, causing tremendous trade loss for Malaysia. Since this outbreak, no subsequent cases (in neither swine nor human) have been reported in either Malaysia or Singapore.” The first host are fruit bats of the Pteropodidae Family, Pteropus genus but in the case of infection, the pigs were intermediate hosts. Later in 2004, the same virus has occurred in Bangladesh which has known as the place where people consume date palm sap and after that was contaminated by fruit bats, they got the virus through the natural chain of transmission. The human-to-human line was also noticed, especially in India.
