A good sense of humor can reduction the tension and embarrassment. I still properly remember what happened during my first speech contest. That was chosen by the lottery, Before I want on the stage, I was so tightness when I waited for my turn backstage. Since I never had a opportunity to speak in public, I was afraid. Nevertheless, I still tried my best to ready for it. As it was finally my turn, I tried to stay calm and walked onto the stage with a big smile. But I tripped over the microphone cable and fell on the ground. At that moment, everyone started to laugh at me.I felt so embarrassed that I wanted to run away. However, it is surprising that I did not no longer feel nervous. Thus, I took a deep breath and stood in front of the microphone. I smiled ang said, 'I believe that you might feel sleepy after Listening to so many speeches. It is my honor to catch your attention. Now I will begin my speech.' Strangely, no one laughed anymore. After I finished my speech , the audience all gave me a big hand. To my surprise, I was awarded a special prize for courage at the end of the contest. From this experience, I learned the importance of having a sense of humor.
