So, over the course of the last two years, INVISTA analyzed a wide variety of shaping jeans on the market today, taking into account qualitative fit model feedback and wear force data to assess comfort, and combining that with body scanning technology to see which garments actually did the best job of actually shaping the body. Based on the results from this work, we then made a series of prototype garments – all made to the same size and silhouette, only the fabrics were changed. So we looked at fabrics with different levels of stretch, retractive force and hysteresis – the difference between the force it takes to pull out a fabric vs. the force for it to recover.
