Anti-American protests continue spreading across the Middle East, and Southeast Asia Thursday. Demonstrators are angry over a film critical of Islam. In Yemen, hundreds of people raid the grounds of the United States embassy. They set fire to diplomatic vehicles, as security guards used water canon and warning shoots to force them out. Several people were reported injured. Protests also took place in Cairo, * and Dakar, * . In Bagdad, protesters shouted no to Israel, and no to America, while burning an American flag. The demonstrators came two days after the American ambassador to Libya was killed after suspected militants raid a diplomatical office in Benghazi. The film in question was made in the United States, and makes fun of Islam profit Mohammed, during an appearance Thursday, Secretary of State Hilary Clinton criticized the film, but she said there is no justification for violence.
Reports say Afghan president Hamid Karzai has postponed a trip to Norway because of the violent protest over the anti-Islam film. Norway's foreign ministry said it was informed by Afghan foreign ministry that Mr Karzai's visit set for Friday has been delayed; the foreign ministry said the Afghan leader finds it is necessary to remain in Afghanistan in light of the Syrians' events in some Arab countries recently.
