Continue training basic core behaviors. Ellen felt confident enough (she actually admitted later that she was scared to death) to sit in a chair and work on eye contact and name recognition, dropping the food on the ground at her feet for Moni. She was very careful to keep them still, so as not to incite Moni to aggress at her. After a minute or two of the "closeness, both Moni and Ellen started to get nervous, (Ellen told me she was nervous and I could tell she had stopped breathing and Moni's body stiffened slightly) so I had Ellen throw the food away from her instead of at her feet. This way, Moni would be moving away from her and they both could get some breathing room. In addition, I had Ellen sing. (If you are singing, you are breathing.) I was very cognizant of both Ellen's and Moni's comfort level, changing the context slightly before Moni reacted.
