The name known around the world
The Barossa Valley is arguably the best-known “new world” wine region on the globe, challenged only by California's Napa Valley.
Home to world-renowned producers like Penfolds, Henschke and Jacob's Creek, the Barossa has been named on the New York Times' list of “must-see” destinations in Australia – and is less than an hour's drive north of Adelaide.
The entire Barossa region, which also takes in the cooler Eden Valley, is a gourmet's delight with its gutsy wines, hearty food and German heritage – and while it is a popular destination it remains a friendly one.
