The relationships between role stress and two major job outcomes, job performance and job satisfaction, have been investigated in previous studies. Findings about the relationship between role conflict and job performance have been inconsistent (Babakus et al., 1999; Brown & Peterson, 1993; Karatepe & Uludag, 2008). On the other hand, a consistently negative relationship between role ambiguity and job performance has been found in previous studies (Babakus et al., 1999; Brown & Peterson, 1993; Fisher, 1995; Karatepe & Uludag, 2008; Ross & Boles, 1994). Moreover researchers showed both role conflict and role ambiguity have directly negative relationships with job satisfaction (Babakus et al., 1999; Brown & Peterson, 1993; Fisher, 1995). In previous research models, researchers also analyzed the relationship between job performance and job satisfaction.
