Whether physicians have different health-seeking behaviorbecause of their professional status and whether that typeof behavior affects their health status have not beensystematically studied. Although doctors prefer to be treatedby other physicians and the role conflict inherent in being adoctor-patient and a doctor’s doctor has been discussed [13],studies in Norway found that 75% of physicians treatthemselves. This self-treatment behavior may lead to anumber of adverse consequences, such as a delayed diagnosisor a worsening illness [14]. How physician health behaviorsand illness affect relevant factors warrant further study.
