The rest of the activities are completed as per schedule. Hence, in this example, the reason why the project was delayed was due to the 8-day delay to Activity J, which in turn made this activity critical. Initially this activity was not critical and had a 3-day float, out of which the contractor’s ATF was 1.5 days. The contractor delayed this by 8 days, thereby exhausting the 1.5-day ATF and exceeding it by 6.5 days, and therefore is held responsible for the project delay.
