在数字环境下，虚拟馆藏中的全文数据库的购置和维护费用是相当高昂的，需要大量的资金、设备和人力投入，而当前高校图书馆普遍存在经费紧张、技术和人才不足的现象，所以利用经济学上的成本收益分析法来评价图书馆馆藏的投入成本和效益产出不失为一种较好的方法。
