Slichter Residence Hall is tight-knit community made up of mostly freshmen. The front of the building looks out at the beautiful Allen Centennial Gardens, which provides a great view for all residents able to see it. The Slichter backyard also offers green space with picnic tables for you to use for outdoor activities, reading, and laying out in the sun. Once you exit the main entrance of Slichter, you will not only be able to catch a glimpse of Lake Mendota to the right and see Steenbock Library to the left, but if you continue southbound on Babcock Drive, you will also approach the engineering campus and Camp Randall Stadium. Slichter is a great location due its proximity to this area, as well as many other academic buildings and Union South.
Residents can conveniently eat at Carson's Market (one of six dining markets on campus), which is located right behind the building. Rooms in Slichter are equipped with great storage, which include a built-in armoire and additional closet space for each roommate to store their belongings. Each resident floor also has a lounge space with comfortable furnishings where residents are often found socializing or studying. Slichter is also home to the University Housing offices, so residents that live here can easily access the Cashier's Office to pay their housing bills and consult with any necessary housing staff.
