Seth and Kely Kelley want to prove that a for-profit business can work for a higher purpose.
The couple opened Redtail Coffee at the south Transit Center this spring to provide 1 chances to the residents of Redtail Ponds:a
housing project for the homeless and individuals with 2 income.
The couple got the idea 3 attending a heated neighborhood meeting 4 to the
project.They live near the coffee shop and near Redtail Ponds:which will open next year.
The couple was 5 to hear the fears some of their neighbors had related to the project and
wanted to do something to 6 that barrier and hope their mission-based hiring will 7 as an
example for community members and businesses.
“When people come through our shop and have a 8 experience:we can challenge those stereotypes(模式化观念):”Seth said.“We also want to show that a for-profit business can serve a(n) 9 purpose.”
Redtail Coffee has 10 employed one homeless individual through a(n) 11 with a local
non-profit institution.When the housing project opens next year:they hope to 12 the
aboveminimum wage job opportunity to homeless and nearhomeless individuals.

“I love the love that these two bring to the place:”Udarro said.“It’s all about community
and support and 15 each other like we’re neighbors.”
Udarro wants to work with the Kelleys to make the coffee shop a(n) 16 ~They hope to add local artwork:musical performances and other community events to draw the community in
