轮胎与路面的附着性能越好，在相同条件下其牵引性能、制动性能越优越。轮胎的附着力是指轮胎与路面之间的切向反作用力的极限，其值略大于轮胎完全静止时与路面之间的摩擦力，它包括侧向附着力和周向附着力。附着系数是指附着力与法向负荷的比值。轮胎与道路的附着性能是汽车安全行驶的决定因素。统计证明，有5%~10％的公路运输事故是附着力不够造成的，在湿滑路面上的事故率更高，可达安全事故的25%~40%。因此，国际公路协会规定了在不同道路条件下的最低附着系数在0.4~0.6范围内。

The height of the attachment coefficient depends on the structural parameters, the use condition, the load and the internal pressure, and the speed and the road surface. The adhesion coefficients of different pavement are listed in table 2-1.
