随着信息技术的飞速发展，作为传输媒质的光缆正越来越发挥着无可替代的作用。近年来，上海电信传输线路维护中心兴建了“光缆线路监测系统”，用以及时判断、定位光纤故障并提供相关信息，缩短光缆故障抢修时间。本文阐述了系统的结构组成，基本原理，监测的对象、方式和原则，并结合实例比较了系统和传统方法对故障测试判断的优劣，分析了系统在电信光缆维护工作中应该发挥的作用。
