In this section, details of finite-element simulations of the arch bridge under various loading conditions are presented. The analysis is done using the finite-element programs ATENA (ATENA) and NISA (NISA). The ATENA software has been used to study the bridge under monotonically increasing loads positioned as in rail load configurations to understand cracking in masonry and its propagation. Furthermore, parametric studies have been undertaken by considering the tensile strength of brick masonry and filler and the boundary conditions as variable parameters. The speed tests are simulated using the finite-element program NISA, wherein the natural frequencies and mode shapes are computed together with the principal stresses.
