If a public authority considers that the exercise of any of its functions or an activity it wishes to undertake would or might significantly hinder the achievement of an MCZ’s conservation objectives, it must inform the appropriate statutory conservation body responsible for management of the MCZ of that fact (ss. 125(3) and 125(5) and 126(2), Marine and Coastal Access Act) (in the case of England, this is Natural England).
