Scanning electron microscope (SEM) was employed to study the distribution of the nanofillers
within the sample before cone calorimetery. All the images show adequate distribution of
nanofillers. Sepiolite and CNTs are distinguishable in the micrographs by a lighter colour to the
UP matrix. The sepiolite presents a rigid needle-like shape and a slightly bigger size than the CNT.
It can be observed that both nanofillers are well dispersed at low filler content, whereas the
agglomerated in their respective regions at higher filler content. The ternary system samples also
show combined morphologies with the sepiolite and CNTs intermixed (see Figure 1).
