This model distinguish nursing science from medical science.
 Nursing goal:to help the patient put his/her energy into getting well.
 Medical goal:focus on the patient’s position on the health-illness continuum with the goal of causing movement along the continuum.
Provides a systematic way of teaching students to assess and care for patients with the context of their lives rather than just as victims of illness.
