On school days,American students usually get out of bed at 7 A.M.Then they wash their faces and eat a breakfast of eggs, ham or bacon, bread and a glass of milk.Sometimes they might eat pancakes with fruit. They then dress, brush their teeth, comb their hair, put their books in a backpack, and go to school.Almost all students walk or take a yellow school bus.Very few ride bicycles. When they arrive at about 8:30 A.M.,they meet their friends and talk about their activities. They put their backpack in a locker and take just the one book for that subject,a writing pad and a pencil to each class.
In middle school, their subjects are English,Mathematics,Social Studies,Science,Biology,Physical Education,Music and Art.
At noon or 12 o’clock, the students eat lunch at school.Their lunch usually consists of meat, vegetable, fruit, bread and a drink. However, some students prefer pizza, hot dogs or hamburgers with a soda to drink.American children like sugar and after their meal they usually have a small piece of cake or a cookie.
Students do not have a short sleep in the afternoon. After lunch, they go to classes until 3 o’clock. They take classes for six hours each day and then return home.
Parents allow their children to play or watch TV until supper, which is usually at 6 P.M.After supper, they do their homework.
On the weekend, the students don’t go to school. On Saturdays, they usually go shopping with their friends or take trip with their family to visit their grandparents or go to a park for a picnic. On Sundays, most families go to church in the morning and have a large lunch at about 1 P.M.and are often joined by their grandparents or friends. It is a good way to end the week for both parents and children, before the start of the next week, when school and work begin again
