This is a very nice old Nat Prince puppet that I was found during a recent visit to the Golden Triangle region. Before the advent of television, puppets like this were very popular and played a crucial role in culture and religion throughout Southeast Asia and beyond. It was entirely hand made, even the embroidered clothing and hand carved teak wood head and arms. Nat Worship was practiced in many areas of Southeast Asia before the introduction of Buddhism. Many aspects of Nat Worship have been combined with Buddhism and it is still practiced by some people today.
