According to the results of the regression analysis, the reason for young people to usenew communication technologies to communicate with their parents were mainly derivedfrom affection, pleasure, positivity and sharing tasks. Overall, adolescents perceive affectionto be the strongest motivation that they communicate with parents. The sharing of emoticonand funny moments could be the activities that adolescents want to share with parents whenthey are in a joyful mood. Regarding their status of relational maintenance, adolescentsbelieve that sharing tasks and positive assurances can help them to maintain strong tieswherein they are assisted by the new communication media, which further complements thelevel of intimate relationships with parents.
