A general scheme of the development and implementation of the ecohydrological approach in the city of the future (see Figure 6.3) has to consider the context of generally accepted goals like sustainable development (see Chapter 3) and documents creating a vision for environmental problem-solving (e.g., the United Nations Millennium Declaration). From a strategic point of view, it should be compatible with already implemented policies, such as IUWM or the EU Water Framework Directive.
