在浮游植物光合作用、浮游动物垂直迁移和水库生态学等基础理论研究方面取得了重要进展。在国际学术期刊发表论文20余篇（SCI收录），国内学术期刊论文45篇；著作2部。以广东省典型水库为主要对象，系统开展了我国热带亚热带水库生态学研究，建立了基于水动力学的水库运行管理模式并应用于水库水质管理。推动了我国热带亚热带地区水库生态学的研究。
