In aligning our organizational structure for efficiency and effectiveness, Sankar Kurumbail, Director of Supply Chain & Innovation, will lead the Supply Chain operations function beginning November 1, 2015. This restructure unites the Supply Chain strategy and Supply Chain operations execution teams under one organization.
The team will bring laser focus to developing end-to-end supply chain models based on demand segmentation and inventory optimization. As a primary objective, they will gather voice of the customer to build understanding of market requirements by product and by region to drive our Engineered Value Chain (EVC) efforts.
Within Operations, the Supply Chain team has been driving the manufacturing supply chain strategy. They bring knowledge of order-to-delivery processes as well as customer requirements, which will be leveraged as we purposefully engineer and optimize our entire chain – end-to-end.
EVC efforts will allow SM&T to better plan our builds, reduce inventory and improve delivery time – all of which increase OPACC. Improvement of product availability and inventory turns will also be at the forefront. EVC and inventory management are an OPACC priority and a priority set out by our Board of Directors and Executive Office.
Under Sankar’s leadership, the Supply Chain team will continue to closely collaborate with the Operations teams in the facilities, operating as “one team” united toward the same goal of making our value chain more efficient and customer-centric.
Sankar will continue to have leadership for Innovation & Strategy for the Surface Mining & Technology Division.
