The Foreign Language in Elementary School (FLES)/Language through Content (LTC) Curriculum Resource Teacher reports to the Elementary and Secondary World Languages Specialists, World Languages Coordinator, and the Director of the Office of PreK-12 Curriculum and Instruction. The teacher assists with planning, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and modifying the elementary FLES/LTC with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) program, as well as the secondary program; serves as a resource for regions, schools and teachers; assists with screening and interviewing world languages teacher applicants and other office-related tasks; collaborates within and between FCPS offices; and provides staff development and input in curriculum development.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with collegiate professional certification with an endorsement in a world language. Minimum of three years successful experience as a teacher of world languages. Experience in curriculum writing preferred. Demonstrates knowledge of current second language acquisition theories, best practices of instruction and assessment, and knowledge of the elementary and secondary curriculum and its application for students. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills as well as experience providing staff development.
