The library community should share their expertise in authority control and metadata management and help make their data and the resources in collections an important part of the evolving Semantic Web. Librarians working with serials are particulady well versed in managing data from multiple sources, such as commercial knowledgebases and integrated library systems, and could easily transfer those skills to managing linked data sets. Even more important is linked data's potential to transform serials management by making it easier for various stakeholders to share and update publication information with much less time and effort than is currently required. These factors make linked data worthy of the serials community's attention, even in the early days of this technology.
