Abstract: osteoblasts are important cells in bone formation and growth, which are responsible for the synthesis, secretion and mineralization of bone matrix. The stimulating effects of mechanical forces play an important role in the growth, development, repair and apoptosis of osteoblasts. The in vivo mechanical environment is more complex, in vitro given single mechanical loading method can effectively eliminate other factors of interference, can by controlling the force loading pattern, size, frequency, time and to study the mechanical stimulation on osteoblast proliferation and differentiation. The way of in vitro loading may include fluid shear stress, centrifugal force, pressure, mechanical tension, mechanical vibration, etc..In this paper, the effects of mechanical forces on the proliferation and differentiation of osteoblasts in vitro were reviewed in recent years. Key words: mechanical force, osteoblast, biological activity, fluid shear force, centrifugal force, pressure, mechanical tension, mechanical vibration
