Shifting/Seaworthy Trim: (Clauses 18 and 19) This covers who is to pay shifting costs, if any, between berths; also, whether time so used is to count as laytime. The vessel is to be left in safe, seaworthy condition between ports. It is important to add in a clause of this nature that it is up to the Master to decide whether a vessel is in safe, seaworthy trim or not. Silence on this point may lead to an eventual dispute.
