Global ornamental fish trade has increased from US$ 50–US$250 million over the past two decades. It has been estimatedthat 1.5–2 billion aquariums are being kept in householdsworldwide with more than 600,000 in the US alone (Lewbartet al., 1999; Green, 2003). Global imports on ‘Marine, freshwater fish and invertebrates’ in 2007 have been valued atUS$ 327 million. The value of the fish and invertebrates ofmarine origin in this trade has increased from 9 millionUS$ in 2003 to reach almost 29 million US$ in 2007 (Tissera,2010)
