The points (if any) where a graph crosses the x axis are called x intercepts, and sim- ilarly, a y intercept is a point where the graph crosses the y axis. The graph of a func- tion can have many x intercepts but at most one y intercept since the vertical line test says that the graph can cross the vertical line x 0 (the y axis) no more than once. Intercepts are key features of a graph and can be found using algebra or technology in conjunction with these criteria.
