The 10-week AHSM course included the following strategies: (a) self-monitoring; (b) distracting oneself from the voices by doing other things; (c) talking with someone; (d) reading; (e) listening to music; (f) watching television; (g) using earplugs or covering one’s ears; and (h) doing relaxation exercises such as taking deep breaths, relaxing the muscles or listening to relaxing music. After the course, we conducted a follow-up on the participants once every 3 months for 6 months to assess the outcome indicators.
