Dear professor Stephens,
This is Yang. I talked with Professor Kondolf, department of landscape architecture and Environmental planning, for PhD application. He introduced you to me because your research area might fits my current work. My thesis is to monitor temporal effects on soil hydrophobic resistance by prescribed fire (before fire; short period after fire; six years after fire). The other goal is to find the relation between soil water repellency and soil properties (soil water content and soil organic fraction), and the influence of soil water repellency on soil hydraulic properties in sagebrush system at semi-arid. Besides, I am interested in quantification of soil carbon processes and to address the grand challenge of improving prediction of soil carbon storage and flux from person to landscape scale, which I think also is important for wildland fire science and green house gas emission.
I wonder if my research area triggered your interests or fit your work. By the way, I am graduate student in Syracuse University.
Looking forward to your reply. Thanks for your time!
Best wishes!
