In the development of a new product, there is invariably a need to produce a single ere ple, or prototype, of a designed part or system, before the allocation of large amounte e capital to new production facilities or assembly lines. The main reason for this need is that the capital cost is so high, and production tooling takes so much time to prepare; conse, quently, a working prototype is needed for troubleshooting and for design evaluation be fore a complicated system is ready to be produced and marketed.
