4.1.3.2. Trial results
When the surface conditions from the inserts for both campaigns were compared there were no
remarkable differences that could be visually observed.
When looking in more detail with the microscope, a difference can be observed for the oxidation of the
grades. For both campaigns an oxidation layer was formed, but the oxidation layer that was formed
during the campaign with the HTRC cooling covered the surface better than with classical cooling. For
the classical cooling a lot of carbides are still clearly visible on the surface.
