Participants were provided with a 2009 Mitsubishi i MiEV, a 4-seat small hatchback BEV that had a manufacturer’s ‘‘target
range’’ on full charge of about 100 miles using 16 kW h Lithium-ion batteries, and an on-board charger enabling it to be
charged via a UK 13A, 240 V domestic supply in 6–7 h. All participants drove the vehicle, in pairs, on a defined route of
10 miles on a mixture of public road types, with the opportunity to discuss their experience with the other member of their
pair. Twenty of the participants also drove the BEV home from work, had the use of it during the evening, recharged it at
home, and drove it back the following day. Participants then completed a post-experience questionnaire
