A range of Legionella counts have been observed in water distribution systems, and the predicted QMRA risk may be erroneous if a large portion of the Legionella species present,is not similar in the irvirulence traits (Buse et al., 2012). However, in this study, the vast majority of Legionella strains were identified as L. pneumophila (RodríguezMartínezetal.,2015).L.pneumophila is the main causative agent for Legionnaires' disease with over 90% of the reported cases (Cunha et al., 2016a;Diederen,2008;EdelsteinandLuck,2015;McDade,2008).Nevertheless,serotyping and multi-locust and emrepeat analysis(MLVA-8) revealed differences between L. pneumophila strains inhabiting the studied water distribution system (Rodríguez-Martínez et al., 2015; Sharaby et al.,2017;2018).Strainspecific QMRAmodels should be developedandimplementedforLegionella,sincevirulencelevelsmaysignificantlyvarybetweenstrains(Helbigetal.,2002;Steinertetal.,2007; Sharaby et al., 2017; 2018).
