Surface Flash Label
IMPORTANT CHANGES TO FLASH LABEL REQUIREMENTS
• Beginning Spring 2015, L.L.Bean will no longer require the use of the Surface Flash Labels or Surface Flash Stickers
on L.L.Bean apparel and/or textiles. This informational label is not required by government statute or regulations,
nor is the label an industry standard or industry-wide practice.
• Do not attach the Surface Flash Label specifications on New products in Spring 2015. Note that the Surface Flash Label or Sticker has been removed from Spring 2015 specifications for Relist products.
• Processes and protocols that include the requirement to include the Surface Flash Label or Stickers on products have been modified to reflect the change.
• This is a labeling change only. Flammability testing requirements are not affected by the change and must still be done.
Please note information below is applicable to product development prior to Spring 2015 when Flash Labels are required for L.L.Bean products.
When a textile fabric flammability test exhibits a surface flash, the surface flash label must be placed on the product. This requirement applies to all household textile products, including, but not limited, to fleece products, clothing and bedding.
It should be place in close proximity to other required labels or in a location readily visible to the consumer.
Polybag or other packaging must have sticker affixed, if the surface flash label is not visible through the packaging.
The label must be of sufficient durability to last the useful life of the product.
Note: Set forth are general labeling requirements which are to be utilized in addition to other required labels for such products. There may be variations or additional requirements, however, due to different types of products, tests, standards and the legal requirements of various federal, state or local jurisdictions. Vendor's labeling requirements and other obligations are subject to the terms of the Master Vendor Agreement. Vendor is responsible for ensuring that all label information required by applicable standards and regulations are complete and accurate.

Surface Flash Label
All textiles that exhibit a surface flash in flammability testing. Notice:
Certain products can burn if exposed to heat or flame. Fabrics with a fuzzy surface or open weave are more easily ignited. Use caution near open flames, candles, cigarettes, kitchen ranges, fireplaces or other sources of intense heat, particularly if fabric softeners are used on this product.
