Overall, the data suggested that participants were motivated to engage inintergenerational play, experienced constraints, negotiated those constraints(often by utilizing leisure affordances), engaged with their grandparent/grandchild, and received benefits from that interaction. A concept map wasdrawn (see Figure 1) that illustrates the process of intergenerational playdescribed by participants. The overall themes consisted of several subthemesthat clarified the components involved in the intergenerational play experience.The subthemes will be discussed later.
