Curiosity is the latest and most sophisticated rover to explore Mars, but it certainly won't be NASA's last attempt to analyze that planet. In 2016, the launch of a stationary lander named InSight, equipped with a seismometer to detect movements caused by earthquakes and volcanic eruptions", is planned. Then, in 2020, another Mars rover is scheduled to lift off from Earth. It's highly likely that our fascination with the red planet will be fueled by these future missions and that, one day, manned missions to Mars will replace robotic ones.
